Our History

The seeds of District 75 began in New York at the turn of the century when efforts for children with developmental differences began to take shape in response to the needs of thousands of children. Activism, emerging social ideas, legal victories, and enlightened educational practices changed slowly from 1900 to the current day. This led to the existence of District 75, an entire District dedicated to children with specific physical, sensory, emotional, environmental, technical, and intellectual requirements. The following is a brief, remarkable history of how District 75 came to be.
