As in preK-2, it is very important that the instructional staff in the schools is supported by the district specialists to ensure students develop all the foundational skills they will need throughout school and life.
We believe every child deserves to have the Power of Reading, which includes using media and technology! We view Multicultural Literacy, where all student identities are valued and respected in the classroom, as the cornerstone to lifelong learning and success. Literacy skills have an impact on the content areas of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, as they call for children to be able to read, write, communicate, and listen to the information presented in books, magazines, articles, websites, etc.
The D 75 Curriculum and Instruction Team provides workshops, resource links, newsletters, and events for our schools and families to promote the collaborative efforts of both to cultivate the students’ foundational literacy skills, which will ultimately create successful readers.
