These services are offered in diverse settings, co located classrooms, dedicated school buildings, hospitals, agencies, and in home environments, ensuring each student receives the tailored support they need.

District 75 provides a wide spectrum of highly specialized services, including small ratio instructional settings, Speech Language and occupational/physical therapies, travel training, vocational and daily living skills instruction, and related health and behavioral supports, all tailored to meet each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.

District 75 provides quality and rigorous individualized educational programs to students with significant challenges and diverse learning styles. The needs of students are met in a variety of settings that nurture independence, ensure dignity and support integration into the community. Students are referred to a specific class ratio by the Committee on Special Education.
Families
Families
District 75’s Family Support and Engagement team collaborates with community-based partners to provide citywide workshops and resources that nurture student growth and empower families. At the local level, our schools host workshops tailored to neighborhood needs, covering practical topics like literacy, behavior support, IEP understanding, and community services, to ensure families receive relevant, accessible support where they live.

Literacy

My name is Simone, and I am committed to supporting schools in delivering high-quality literacy instruction for students with disabilities. As a D75 Literacy Coach, I partner with educators and school leaders to strengthen the implementation of evidence-based literacy practices through coaching, professional learning, and collaborative problem-solving. My work centers on explicit instruction, effective implementation, and Science of Reading–aligned practices that help improve outcomes for diverse learners across D75 classrooms.

Since beginning my career in 2014 as a 7–12 Students with Disabilities Generalist, I have taught 7th-grade ELA in general education, ICT, and 12:1:1 settings. Prior to my current role, I served as a Centrally Funded Intervention Teacher, providing targeted literacy support through evidence-based interventions, such as REWARDS.

I am also a proud Hunter College alum and currently serve as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Special Education Department. Outside of work, I enjoy attending Broadway shows, visiting bookstores, and trying new restaurants.
