Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)

The Department of Youth and Community Development administers the 6 weeks Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), the nation’s largest youth employment program for young adults ages 14-24 years old. Younger youth (14-15 years old) are provided with career exploration opportunities through project-based learning and older youth (16-17 years old) gain work experience at a summer job. Learn more at the DYCD website

As a Special Initiatives SYEP provider, The Office of Transition Services and Postsecondary Planning Initiatives accepts applications and manages enrollment for District 75 students ages 14-21 who are eligible to attend and attend summer school in the current year. Students can attend summer school programming and receive all the services provided by their Individualized Education Program (IEP), earn high school credits (if applicable), participate in project-based learning activities and/or gain valuable work experience that is helpful for future work or college.

Students must apply to participate in SYEP.  Applications for 2025 closed in March 2025!
